a bit of progress on the sewing room
Still not done, but I'm making progress. One of the ladies on the HGTV board, Kim-Strut526, has a picture of her sewing room, and she included a peg board. I had been thinking along those lines myself, so this was a good time to do it. It's not readily visible as you walk in, being tucked behind the door, and it works out really well. Keeps my rulers accessible, but not in the way.
My design wall is up, but I still want to tweak it a bit. It's 4 pieces of foam board that I taped together on the back side, and has batting on the front. There are 3 binder clips spaced across the top that are used to hang it on the wall. It feels a bit flimsy. I'll be thinking on that one. Maybe mount it on some little strips of wood similar to the peg board? Feel free to comment and let me know what you'd do, or how you did yours.

Hi Elsie I always thought it would be a great diea to frame the board make it look like a picture what do you think..I like you ideas glad to see someone is getting a room done my quilt room just turned into a guest room..oh well poor me...
Well I can always make you another peg board!
I'm thinking along the lines of the pegboard for the thickness of it, and covering it with the batting. So it wouldn't have to be pegboard, just that thickness/weight. But then I also would like to possibly either frame it or have some kind of border. Seeing the pictures of both the pegboard and design board, they blend right into the background. I'm going to paint the outer edge of the pegboard the same color as my accent wall, so that will take care of that one piece, but still need to work on the design board. Kick that around a bit, Hip Hop, and see what you think.
I like your thinking on the frame, lani. It looks like we're on the same wavelength!
After the sew-in yesterday I really need to clean my sewing room AND stash closet. BUT, I'm getting hardwood to replace the carpet fairly soon so will wait to pull everything off the floor at that time...then rearrange it as I put it back.
The sew-in was fun. But ever so tiring! With kids that age you've got to keep things hopping. "Mine" waiting while I tried to figure out one particular part in the directions that just didn't seem to match the odd shaped pattern piece...then "hers" having to wait while GM picked out a piece sewn on wrong...same pattern piece.
It was a busy day yesterday! LOL
